We are located at the beautiful and tranquil Monksville Reservoir, South Boat Launch.

Our launch is in a state park, and our launch spot is a part of the natural landscape. It is rocky and can be slippery. We highly recommend waterproof shoes (such as Keens) to protect your feet.

We recommend you bring along: water, a snack, any necessary prescriptions (such as an epipen), a waterproof watch or way to tell time, a plastic bag or waterproof sack to keep prescriptions/necessities dry, sunglasses with lanyard, sunblock,  and appropriate clothing, preferably of synthetic materials. Synthetic materials dry quickly--cotton clothing dries much slower and therefore is not recommended.

Optional items to bring along that may make your experience more comfortable include: a change of clothes, extra layers to add or remove in case the temperature changes, lip balm with SPF, a towel, a waterproof camera or gopro, a waterproof phone case, a hat or visor, hiking shoes and bug spray (the Monks circular trail has an entrance right off the parking lot!)

We will have some of these items for sale in case you forget! We sell sunblock, sunglasses and phone-sized dry bags.

All rentals come with a paddle and life vest. A waiver is required to be signed before heading out on the water. Anyone under 18 will need a parent or guardian to sign the waiver on their behalf. Life jackets are required, so if you have your own that you prefer, we recommend you bring it along.

We recommend making reservations if you know for sure when you'll be coming, and definitely with a large group. In honoring our reservations, we occasionally cannot accommodate all walk-ups. Reservations by phone or email are best made a few days ahead of time. If you are having trouble reaching us by phone, you are welcome to book online using the blue buttons on this page.

SUP lessons start at $75 per person. Groups of 2-3 are $65 pp. Groups of 4 are $55 pp. Groups of 5 or more are reduced to $50 pp.

Lessons include a combination of a small amount of on-land and a majority of on-water instruction. Lessons are important for the new paddler who wants to make SUP a hobby. It's never too late for a lesson, but it is a good idea to understand proper technique from the start; as they say, "old habits die hard"! Make sure you start off with good habits if at all possible. A lesson teaches posture and technique, and gives you an opportunity to have a professional opinion on how to begin or improve your paddling.

Lessons can also help those who have been paddling for some time, but feel they could improve their speed or technique. If you experience back or shoulder pain when you paddle, a lesson could make all the difference!

Lessons include 90 minutes of personal instruction and an additional 30 minute "free paddle" for you to put your new skills to work. Lessons are taught by Chaz, who is a certified level 1 instructor by Paddlefit.

We do not offer Kayak lessons at this time, but our neighbor L.L. Bean, also located on Monksville at the launch off of Beech Road, offers an affordable group kayaking outing for beginners.
